Arriving for the family service this morning at West Peckham church you can definitely feel that Autumn in the air. It is bright and clear but colder and the shadows cast by sun are much longer. By Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year in West Peckham. We have the Bonfire night approaching (which usually sees a big fire and a big crowd on the villange Green) and the preparations for Christmas are all starting up. And there is the local Kent beer and a warm log fire in the Swan for those dark nights… What do you like most about Autumn?
Every so often the churchyard can get a bit overgrown – and in need of some TLC. So on saturday, we had a ‘working party’ to cut the bushes down to size and put the ivy back in its place. It was a warm, sunny Autumn day and the volunteers arrived during the morning to help tackle ‘the jungle’. Tools and refreshments were provided. Thanks to all those who attended (and also seemed to have a great time), the West Peckham churchyard looks much better. If you were not able to attend our resident photographer was able to take some snapshots and there will be another one soon!
