The West Peckham Carol is traditionally one of the highlights of Christmas, and this year proved no exception. We had 9 Lessons (read by the children of the parish) and 9 Carols (a mixture of old and new friends), the West Peckham choir was in excellent voice (and even had instruments for Jingle Bells), and there was food, drink and good cheer afterwards in the West Peckham village hall. But it is not too late to enjoy the festive spirit. There are still some wonderful services you can attend in the run-up to Christmas in Mereworth, West Peckham and KingsHill…..
West Peckham Carol service is one of my favourite services of the year (lessons, candles and carols in our beautiful Saxon church) and this year it proved especially popular with over 200 people filling the church. The West Peckham choir led the service which finished with a rousing rendition of Dashing through the snow (complete with bells). Here are some pictures to give you a feel for what it was like to attend. If you missed the service, there are still lots of events at West Peckham, Mereworth and KingsHill to help you get into the real Christmas spirit.
A highlight for many people is the Candlelit Carol Service at West Peckham. Arrive early as the service is always very popular… 15 December 8 am Holy Communion, West Peckham 9.30 Family Service, Kings Hill 10am Holy Communion, Mereworth (Junior Church for Children) 5pm Christmas Carol Service, West Peckham
