As part of the church of England, your three local churches are part of a local region (or diocese). In our case we are part of Rochester. A popular misconception is that this is all paid for by the government – if only… We contribute towards the costs of running the church in a system called church share and this is really nicely explained in a video. This week we are praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ and joining in a 24/7 prayer week across the whole nation. In Mereworth & West Peckham parishes we are praying Monday night 22.00-23.00, Tuesday night 23.00-midnight, and Wednesday night 23.00-midnight. if you can’t make those hours, choose one hour a day, set it apart and do intentional praying. The annual Rogation walk take place this weekend. It starts at 10am at Mereworth Church, walking through the farms and paths that make up the parishes of Mereworth and West Peckham. Well-behaved pets (on leads only) welcomed. Some physical agility needed as not all the walk is on paths. We finish at West Peckham Church, at approximately 12noon, for a short communion service. Everyone welcome!

Remembrance Service this year will be a joint service for the whole parish at Mereworth Church with the Bishop of Rochester. The service will start at 10am on Sunday 8th November so that we can finish with the reading of the names and the two minutes silence at the war memorial.
On Saturday the 19th of September, Mereworth church hosts a talented group of young musicians, led by Sarah Hughes (Oxford University Organ Scholar 2015, Principal ‘cellist (Leverhulme Scholar), National Youth Orchestra and Royal College of Music Junior Department prize-winner) and her sister Anna Hughes (viola and recent Oxford University music graduate). They will lead performances of a selection of classical and popular pieces on a variety of instruments including Cello, Organ, Piano and Viola. We are delighted to invite you to a concert being given by the Mereworth Children’s Choir on Saturday 18th July 2015 at 3:30pm. They will be present The Wizard of Oz. Free entry, All welcome and we guarantee a great afternoon of singing and entertainment in St. Lawrence’s church (no need to travel to Kansas).
The Rochester Cathedral Voluntary Choir will be singing at an extra special service of Evensong at St. Lawrence’s church on Sunday 17 May, starting at 6.00 pm (please note the correct time is 6pm – a typo meant it was incorrect in the local press). Choral Evensong is one of the most popular services and really brings alive the church. We do not have a regular evening service. So this will be an extra special service. We hope to see you there.
