Happy Ascension Day

Today is Ascension Day, the day on which the church celebrates the return of Jesus to Heaven and the end of his ministry on Earth. After his death on the cross on Good Friday, he rose from the dead on Easter Sunday and then appeared to many of his followers before finally returning to heaven. To celebrate this special day there will be a joint service at 19.30 St Mary’s, West Malling The 5 local Church of England Congregations will come together to celebrate the Ascension of Our Lord in a joint service. Baptism at West Peckham

West Peckham’s morning service today included a baptism as part of the service. It is always a great pleasure to welcome a new member of the church and to see lots of new faces.

Would you like to walk around the West Peckham/Mereworth parish?

On 5 May, there is the annual Rogation Walk. The idea of this informal and fun event is to walk around the parish (at a very easy pace). It starts at Mereworth church at 10am, finishes in West Peckham with a Communion service. Children, walkers, dogs are all welcome (although not inside the churches) and you can tag along for some or all of the walk (it is usually a warm and sunny spring day).

West Peckham Church gets a new noticeboard

There are lots of exciting new things happening at West Peckham church, but the noticeboard has always been a little tucked away (and hard to see from the path running past the church). So we have moved the noticeboard so that it is easy to see as you walk past the church. You will also be able to see that it is now being regularly updated – there are the times of church services, contact details and forthcoming events. There is even some notices about Christmas services! We want it to be very easy to find out what is going on at West Peckham church from the local village Magazine … Continue reading

Autumn has arrived at West Peckham Church

Arriving for the family service this morning at West Peckham church you can definitely feel that Autumn in the air. It is bright and clear but colder and the shadows cast by sun are much longer. By Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year in West Peckham. We have the Bonfire night approaching (which usually sees a big fire and a big crowd on the villange Green) and the preparations for Christmas are all starting up. And there is the local Kent beer and a warm log fire in the Swan for those dark nights… What do you like most about Autumn?
