The Lent Course this year will be based around the film “Les Miserables”. The course starts on Tuesday 28 February, and runs for 5 weeks every Tuesday 10am. There is a book to accompany the Lent course that will be pre-ordered for you. A special service for people missing someone this Christmas… Wednesday 21 December 6pm at Mereworth Church
As part of the church of England, your three local churches are part of a local region (or diocese). In our case we are part of Rochester. A popular misconception is that this is all paid for by the government – if only… We contribute towards the costs of running the church in a system called church share and this is really nicely explained in a video. Christmas preparations are well underway for your local churches – here is a the official details so you can plan your holiday. We try to offer a complete range of modern and traditional events to suit all ages and tastes. We hope you find something for you.
The first weekend in October saw the very successful Flower Festival at St. Dunstans’ church. A stream of people descended on the West Peckham church to enjoy the displays (beautifully illuminated by our new lights), followed by refreshments at the village hall. In October, St. Dunstans will host the Flower Festival. The church will be open all weekend with lots of events and activities. As part of the festival, we have a special treat for you with a Saturday night Jazz Concert, featuring The Goin’ Home Jazz Band. Tickets are available now (and cheaper to buy in advance) and there will be drink and nibbles. Make a date in your diary now for the First weekend in October….
The annual Rogation walk take place this weekend. It starts at 10am at Mereworth Church, walking through the farms and paths that make up the parishes of Mereworth and West Peckham. Well-behaved pets (on leads only) welcomed. Some physical agility needed as not all the walk is on paths. We finish at West Peckham Church, at approximately 12noon, for a short communion service. Everyone welcome!
