The first weekend in October saw the very successful Flower Festival at St. Dunstans’ church. A stream of people descended on the West Peckham church to enjoy the displays (beautifully illuminated by our new lights), followed by refreshments at the village hall. Here is are some pictures of what the church looked like….

In October, St. Dunstans will host the Flower Festival. The church will be open all weekend with lots of events and activities. As part of the festival, we have a special treat for you with a Saturday night Jazz Concert, featuring The Goin’ Home Jazz Band. Tickets are available now (and cheaper to buy in advance) and there will be drink and nibbles. Make a date in your diary now for the First weekend in October….
The annual Rogation walk take place this weekend. It starts at 10am at Mereworth Church, walking through the farms and paths that make up the parishes of Mereworth and West Peckham. Well-behaved pets (on leads only) welcomed. Some physical agility needed as not all the walk is on paths. We finish at West Peckham Church, at approximately 12noon, for a short communion service. Everyone welcome!
We have a special course running this year for Lent…
There is lots of activities going on over Christmas ranging. Remembrance Service this year will be a joint service for the whole parish at Mereworth Church with the Bishop of Rochester. The service will start at 10am on Sunday 8th November so that we can finish with the reading of the names and the two minutes silence at the war memorial.
On Saturday the 19th of September, Mereworth church hosts a talented group of young musicians, led by Sarah Hughes (Oxford University Organ Scholar 2015, Principal ‘cellist (Leverhulme Scholar), National Youth Orchestra and Royal College of Music Junior Department prize-winner) and her sister Anna Hughes (viola and recent Oxford University music graduate). They will lead performances of a selection of classical and popular pieces on a variety of instruments including Cello, Organ, Piano and Viola. It is a real privilege to have our church filled with some very talented musicians and it promises to be a very enjoyable evening. We are very pleased and excited that we can now reveal the new Priest who will be moving into KingsHill and working hard to build the church there. He will be based at KingsHill and joins the team of Pat Dickin (based in Mereworth) and David Green (from West Malling). Your local bishop has very exciting plans for growing the church in the local area, and the critical first step has been to find the right person to be the new priest for KingsHill.
